Na2cl2
Can Na2Cl2 junction also be written or only 2NaCl can be written? 3
Explain why.
Thank you very much
There is no Na2Cl2, the molecule contains sodium and chlorine.
Chemically, there is nothing wrong with writing Na2Cl2, since the ratio of Na and Cl in sodium chloride is 1: 1.
Corn
IUPAC states that you need to write a chemical formula for a compound that represents the atomic ratio using the smallest number.
No, because Na2 means 2 sodium atoms and Cl2 means 2 chlorine atoms. 2NaCl means 2 of the mixture sodium chloride (table salt). Na2Cl2 also does not exist.
Writing sodium chloride in the form of Na2Cl2 is thermodynamically inconsistent.
