Open the OD and look at the engine cover on the back of the drive belt. If it's plastic, then you have a timing belt. If it is metal, then you have a synchronous current.

It has a distribution network. Unlike timing belts, which need to be replaced every 100,000 miles or so, timing belts do not need to be replaced unless there is a problem.
